Winter’s Chill Fails to Control Dengue’s Spread in Punjab

LAHORE: Amid the New Year, Punjab is confronting a surge in dengue cases, as per the latest reports from the health sector. Ali Jan Khan, Secretary Health, provided updates on the alarming situation.

In the last 24 hours, Punjab has witnessed a new case of dengue, contributing to the increasing total of confirmed cases, which has now reached 20 since the start of the new year. This paints a worrisome picture of the disease’s prevalence in the region.

Currently, six individuals are undergoing treatment for dengue in various hospitals across Punjab. Among them, one is receiving care in a Lahore hospital, contributing to the city’s growing count of 12 dengue cases for the month. Faisalabad is also grappling with the dengue surge, with the total reported cases in the city reaching 2 this month.

Similarly, Rawalpindi has reported a new case of dengue in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of dengue patients in the city to 3 for the month so far. As health authorities diligently work to contain the outbreak, citizens are strongly urged to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions to prevent the spread of dengue. The situation is under close monitoring, with focused efforts on providing timely and effective medical care to those affected by the virus.
