Women Cricket: West Indies Decide to Bat First Against Pakistan

KARACHI:  West Indies have won the toss and decided to bat first in the 1st ODI against Pakistan in Karachi. The three-ODI series started at the National Bank Stadium, with subsequent matches scheduled for April 21 and 23. Nida Dar is leading the fifth-ranked Pakistan side, aiming to capitalize on their 16 points, while Hayley Matthews is leading the ninth-ranked West Indies, currently holding eight points.

Entrance to the stadium is free, allowing fans to enjoy the game from the Javed Miandad Enclosure. Nida Dar expresses the team’s dedication, highlighting their preparation for direct qualification to the ICC Women’s World Cup and determination to continue their recent successes.

Meanwhile, Hayley Matthews acknowledges Pakistan’s strength on home turf and emphasizes West Indies’ readiness for the challenge, having refined their skills during a training camp in Dubai. Australia’s Claire Polosak will officiate as the on-field umpire for all three ODIs and five T20Is, supported by a team of umpires and reserve umpires. The series, comprising three ODIs followed by five T20Is, promises exciting cricket between the two talented squads.
