Women’s Ashes Breaks New Ground: MCG Set to Host Inaugural Day-Night Test

CANBERRA: Cricket Australia (CA) has unveiled the itinerary for the much-anticipated Women’s Ashes series, set to headline the upcoming home summer in a spectacular fashion.

Breaking new ground, the esteemed Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) will witness its inaugural day-night Test as Australia squares off against England in a standalone encounter within the Women’s Ashes saga.

This historic event carries added significance, marking the return of Women’s Test cricket to the MCG after an astonishing 76 years, with Australia and England rekindling their rivalry on the same revered turf since 1949.

Scheduled to kick off on the 30th of January 2025, this singular Test match will serve as the grand finale of the Women’s Ashes, preceded by a series of thrilling encounters. The action-packed series will kick off with a trio of ODIs on the 12th of January, followed by an enthralling lineup of three T20Is starting from the 20th of January.

Notably, the innovative multi-format points system will continue to dictate proceedings, rewarding four points for a Test triumph, two points for a draw, and two points for each limited-overs victory.
