Sylhet, Bangladesh: India qualified for the final of the Women’s T20 Asia Cup 2022 after beating Thailand by 74 runs in the first semifinal of the fixture at Sylhet International Cricket Ground Bangladesh on Thursday. Thailand failed to reach on target of 149 runs in 20 overs, mas they could score only 74 for 9 in 20 overs.

Thailand Women won the toss and elected to field first. Indian batters scored 148 for 6 in 20 overs, which were enough against minnows Thailand, as India player won the match quite easily. Thanks to Shafali Verma struck a brisk 28-ball 42 to give India a solid start.

Deepti Sharma’s miserly 3 for 7 and Shafali Verma’s all-round show ensured Thailand’s big day in the sun, albeit under overcast skies in Sylhet, was predictably dominated by India. Their thumping 74-run win in the first semi-final confirmed their seventh successive Asia Cup final appearance as first-timers Thailand were easily outplayed.
