World Bank Assures Pakistan Complete Support for Reforms to Stabilize Economy

WASHINGTON: The World Bank (WB) has assured its complete support for Pakistan’s reforms and digitalization programs to stabilize the country’s economy and enhance revenues, Radio Pakistan reported on Wednesday.

As per media reports, the assurance came during a meeting between President of World Bank Group Ajay Banga and Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb in Washington.

Pakistan’s Minister highlighted Islamabad’s progress under the nine-month Stand-By Arrangement program and the current reforms in priority areas of energy, taxation, and privatization. The two sides also agreed on the rolling of Country Framework Plan for 10 years.

The World bank head has assured his complete support for Pakistan’s reforms and digitalization programs to stabilize the South Asian country’s economy and enhance revenues. Muhammad Aurangzeb also extended an invitation to the President of World Bank to visit Pakistan.

Meanwhile, in a meeting with President of the Asian Development Bank, Masatsugu Asakawa, they discussed further strengthening bilateral relations with Asian development Bank, protecting nation’s envelope of concessional financing and projects pipeline.
