ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar said on Thursday that the eyes of the whole world were focused on the upcoming visit of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to China.

During a meeting with the Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan, Jiang Zaidong, the two dignitaries engaged in discussions covering a wide array of topics including Pakistan-China relations, the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), governmental efforts to rejuvenate Pakistan’s economy, and other pertinent matters.

Regarding Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s imminent trip to China, Minister Tarar highlighted that apart from ongoing projects within CPEC, the agenda would encompass discussions on new projects and investment opportunities. “The bonds between Pakistan and China are rooted in friendship, trust, and mutual respect,” he remarked, underscoring that the relationship between the two nations has evolved into a comprehensive strategic partnership.

The CPEC was underscored as a crucial collaboration between the two countries, with China standing as Pakistan’s largest trading partner. Minister Tarar pointed out the increased market access for Chinese products in Pakistan and vice versa, attributing it to the CPEC initiative.

Acknowledging China’s commendable cooperation in completing several major projects under the CPEC in Pakistan, Minister Tarar also briefed the Chinese ambassador on the government’s economic endeavours and recent high-level delegations from Saudi Arabia and Iran.

The Chinese ambassador lauded the government’s economic initiatives, expressing optimism that under the leadership of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Pakistan would continue on the path of progress and prosperity. Discussions also encompassed measures to safeguard Chinese citizens in Pakistan and enhance cooperation in the realms of information and culture.
