PESHAWAR: Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Food Safety and Halal Food Authority on Tuesday confiscated 500 kg of expired edible items and 400 liters of counterfeit beverages during crackdowns against adulteration mafia in Dera Ismail Khan and Peshawar.
During an unexpected raid in a warehouse in Peshawar, Sabzi Mandi, the food safety teams seized more than 400 liters of fake branded and non-standard drinks.
The team sealed the warehouse and started legal action against the accused. Similarly, the food safety team inspected bakers, wholesalers, grocery stores, and many food points in various markets of DI Khan.
During the inspection, about 500 kg of expired pickles, biscuits, spices, and dates were seized from a wholesale shop. The team confiscated the expired items and imposed heavy fines on the owner. —APP
