LONDON: David Benioff and DB Weiss, renowned for their work on “Game of Thrones,” return to television with an ambitious new project: “3 Body Problem,” a science-fiction series based on Chinese author Liu Cixin’s bestselling novel.

“3 Body Problem” is set to captivate audiences when it begins streaming on Netflix today. Teaming up with “True Blood” writer-producer Alexander Woo, they bring the intricate tale to life on Netflix. The series, described as even more ambitious than “Game of Thrones,” spans time, space, and virtual reality.

Set against the backdrop of Beijing’s Cultural Revolution in 1966, it follows an astrophysics student whose actions ripple across the universe. Present-day Britain sees a group of physicists, led by “The Oxford Five,” grappling with global scientific failures. Enter Da Shi, an unconventional detective aiding their quest, played by Benedict Wong.

With an ensemble cast including Eiza Gonzalez, Jovan Adepo, Jess Hong, and Jonathan Pryce, and backed by executive producers Brad Pitt, Rosamund Pike, and Rian Johnson, “3 Body Problem” promises a gripping narrative.

Liam Cunningham, who plays Thomas Wade, appreciates the element of surprise, echoing the unpredictability of “Game of Thrones.”
