MUZAFFARABAD: All Parties Hurriyat Conference-AJK chapter on Tuesday issued an urgent appeal to the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Secretary General Hissein Brahim Taha, drawing his attention to the unjust and brutal treatment faced by Kashmiri detainees in Indian prisons.

Convener of the APHC-AJK chapter Mehmood Ahmed Saghar penned a letter to the OIC headquarters, expressing serious concerns over the deteriorating conditions endured by Kashmiri detainees in the Indian jails. The letter underlined the wrongful incarceration of people who have been implicated in politically motivated cases, severely suffering under India’s oppressive regime, according to Kashmir Media Service.

Saghar underlined the challenges faced by IIOJK’s prisoners, including political activists, civil society members, and journalists, who have been apprehended and detained under draconian laws such as the Public Safety Act and the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act.

The appeal highlighted the misuse of so-called anti-terrorism laws and the manipulation of the judiciary to suppress Kashmiri voices advocating for a peaceful resolution to the Kashmir conflict.

‘Judicial Terrorism’ Against Kashmiris

The APHC emphasized the urgent need for international intervention to address what it termed as “judicial terrorism” against Kashmiri detainees.
