APHC Rejects Indian Elections in IIOJK

SRINAGAR: The All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has reaffirmed the Kashmiris’ resolve to continue their political struggle till independence of the Kashmir dispute as per the relevant United Nations resolutions.

According to Kashmir Media Service, APHC spokesman Advocate Abdul Rashid Minhas stated in Srinagar that the people of Kashmir, who are struggling to secure their political rights as outlined in the UN resolutions. However, he criticized the Modi-led Indian government for resorting to brutal methods to silence the Kashmiri voice.

Minhas said that Indian forces are involved in the extra judicially killings of Kashmiris for demanding their right to self-determination. He noted that thousands of individuals are detained in various jails across India and IIOJK, with New Delhi exploiting draconian laws to prolong their detention.

Among the detainees are prominent figures such as APHC chairman Masarrat Aalam Butt, Muhammad Yasin Malik, Shabbir Ahmad Shah, Aasiya Andrabi, Nayeem Ahmad Khan, Maulvi Bashir Ahmed, Bilal Siddiqi, Ameer Hamza, Mushtaq-ul-Islam, Dr. Muhammad Shafi Shariati, Dr. Hameed Fayaz, Dr. Muhammad Qasim Fakhtoo, and others.

Despite Indian oppression, Minhas emphasized that the Kashmiri people remain steadfast in their determination to achieve freedom from New Delhi’s illegal rule. He criticized the Indian Lok Sabha election in IIOJK as a sham intended to mislead the international community about the true situation in the territory.

The APHC urged the United Nations, Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), European Union (EU), and G20 countries to pressurize India to grant Kashmiris their right to determine their political future in accordance with UN resolutions.   —APP
