TEHRAN: Iran’s foreign ministry has summoned the ambassadors of Britain, France, and Germany to question what it termed their “irresponsible stance” regarding Tehran’s retaliatory strikes on Israel, reported by the semi-official Iranian Labour News Agency on Sunday.

The three European countries condemned Iran’s drone and missile attack against Israel, which occurred Saturday night into Sunday, in retaliation for Israel’s bombing of its consulate in Syria on April 1.

Iran’s foreign ministry accused the three countries of “double standards,” pointing out their opposition earlier this month to a Russian-drafted UN Security Council statement condemning Israel’s attack on Iran’s embassy compound in Syria.

An official from Iran’s foreign ministry defended Iran’s military action against Israel’s bases, saying it was within the framework of the right to legitimate defense outlined in Article 51 of the United Nations Charter.

The official stated that Iran’s response was prompted by a series of crimes, including the recent attack on its embassy compound in Syria.

Furthermore, the G7, which includes France, Germany, and the UK, is slated to hold a video call later on Sunday to discuss Iran’s attack on Israel.
