RAWALPINDI: Pakistan captain Babar Azam expressed his enthusiasm about leading a team that boasts a balanced mix of youthful strength and seasoned experience in the upcoming New Zealand T20I series, slated to kick off today.

Speaking at a press briefing, Azam acknowledged the anticipated challenges posed by the New Zealand side throughout the series, considering it a valuable opportunity for Pakistan’s squad.

“In preparation for the upcoming major event, this five-match T20I series holds significant importance for us. Following an intensive fitness camp in Kakul, we are eager to showcase our unity and potential,” he remarked.

Highlighting the bolstered batting lineup with the inclusion of Shadab and Imad, Babar emphasized the team’s strengthened position.

In contrast, Skipper Bracewell emphasized the inclusion of young talent in their squad and pledged to exhibit their utmost against Pakistan.

Pakistan is set to embark on their ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 preparations on Thursday(today) at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium with the inaugural match against New Zealand, followed by fixtures on Saturday and Sunday at the same venue. Subsequently, Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium will host the final two matches of the series next week, on Thursday and Saturday.

This series marks the third encounter between the two teams within a 12-month span, with Pakistan and New Zealand previously drawing 2-2 in Pakistan last year, and New Zealand securing a 4-1 victory earlier this year on their home turf.
