DHAKA: Bangladesh cricketer Nasir Hossain has been banned from playing cricket until April 2025 after admitting to charges related to a failure to disclose an approach for “corrupt conduct.” The ban comes as part of an investigation into alleged anti-corruption rule breaches and match-fixing during the 2021 Abu Dhabi T10 League, involving seven players and officials.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) announced that Nasir Hossain accepted three charges and received a two-year ban, with six months suspended contingent on his behavior. The charges include Hossain’s failure to inform anti-graft officials about receiving a gift of a new iPhone 12 valued at $750 and not providing full details of the approach or invitation he received for “Corrupt Conduct” through the phone.

Additionally, Hossain admitted to failing or refusing to cooperate with anti-graft officials during the investigation into potential corruption. The ban was imposed by the ICC, and Hossain, subject to meeting conditions for the suspended part of the sanction, will be eligible to resume international cricket on April 7, 2025.
