AMMAN: The British Council has entered into a partnership with Jordanian Fund for Human Development to empower Jordanian youth, local media reported on Monday.

The JOHUD is a nonprofit organization aimed at promoting sustainable cultural, economic, and social development in Jordan’s local communities.

The agreement was signed as part of the British Council’s Youth Connect project, which is made to prepare 90 young Jordanians for leadership roles within their communities.

Under the deal younger Jordanians will get training in the Princess Basma Development Centers in Tafilah and Ma’an in southern Jordan, through specialized sessions.

Alexander Lambert, director at the British Council, termed the project as a milestone in the deep-rooted cooperation between the council and the JOHUD.

JOHUD’s Executive Director Farah Daghistani said the collaboration with the British Council added to the purposeful and fruitful partnerships combined with various local institutions to contribute to achieving national goals to boost the role of youth and women in society.
