LONDON: The brother of one of the UK aid workers killed by an Israeli airstrike in Gaza has criticized the British government’s hesitancy to respond to the killings.

Former Royal Marine James Henderson, 33, was killed with two other security personnel on Monday by an Israeli drone strike.

Henderson’s brother, speaking to the media said the British government’s inaction after the killing is hard to understand.

He went on to say that accountability is the only hope of justice but the British government sell arms to Israel, which are used to assassinate fellow citizens.

He added that the behavior of the UK government towards his brother and his colleagues who were killed on a humanitarian mission is inexcusable.

He said people of besieged Gaza have been deprived of basic humanitarian requirements which is completely unacceptable for the global leaders to ignore this miscarriage of justice.

After the killing, the British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak called for a transparent and independent investigation of the incident. He said the government is facing mounting political pressure to take direct action against Israel.

Henderson, two other UK veterans John Chapman, 57, and James Kirby, 47, who worked for the World Central Kitchen aid convoy were killed in the Israeli strike. Overall seven aid workers, including the three security personnel killed in the attack.

The US nonprofit’s founder Jose Andres has blamed Israel for systematically targeting the humanitarian staff.
