BEIJING: China firmly supports the peace process in Colombia and appreciates the efforts made by relevant parties towards this end, a Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson said on Saturday.
The spokesperson’s statement came after the Colombian government and the National Liberation Army announced earlier this week to follow a 180-day ceasefire across the country.
The spokesperson said that living in full peace is a good hope for the Colombian nation. It is also suitable to bring stability and development in Latin America and is widely supported by the world community, Xinhua reported.
China Hopes for Peace, Stability
He added that Beijing hopes that continued efforts would be made to build consensus for peace and that stakeholders would soon play a positive role in realizing enduring peace, stability, and sustainable development in Colombia.
