BEIJING: Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Mao Ning emphasized the substantial progress made by the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), particularly in transport infrastructure, energy, and the development of Gwadar Port.

Recognized as the flagship project of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), CPEC has played a pivotal role in boosting economic and social development while enhancing regional connectivity in Pakistan.

Mao Ning, in a regular briefing, underscored CPEC’s status as a pioneering project within the Belt and Road Initiative, highlighting the joint efforts of both countries. The project’s early successes have not only contributed to economic and social growth in Pakistan but have also provided crucial support in strengthening the China-Pakistan community with a shared future.

The spokesperson expressed China’s readiness to collaborate closely with Pakistan, aligning with the common understanding between the leaders of both nations. Emphasizing a high-standard, people-centered, and sustainable approach, the goal is to further develop CPEC for the benefit of the two countries, fostering growth, innovation, green development, and openness.

Official data reveals that CPEC has attracted $25.4 billion in direct investment to Pakistan, creating approximately 236,000 jobs.

The corridor has been instrumental in generating 8,000 megawatts of electricity and expanding the national core transmission grid by 886 kilometers. As China and Pakistan continue their collaboration, CPEC stands as a testament to the success of joint economic initiatives, promising mutual benefits for both nations.
