Death Anniversary of Renowned Lyricist Masroor Anwar Observed

LAHORE: The twenty-eighth death anniversary of renowned Pakistani film lyricist Masroor Anwar’s observed on Monday.

Masroor Anwar was born in 1944 in Simla. He was one of the most prominent lyricists of the Pakistani entertainment industry from 1962 to 1990.

He wrote many songs for successful films including Arman, Anjuman, Doraha, Heera Aur Pathar, Saiqa, Pehchan, Qurbani, Saughat and Bulandi.

In the early 70’s, he also wrote some of the most memorable national songs such as Sohni Dharti Allah Rakhay, Watan Ki Mitti Gawah Rehna, Apni Jaan Nazar Karoon, and Jug Jug Jiye Mera Pyara Watan.

He passed away on April 1, 1996 in Lahore. The renowned lyricist was awarded with the Pride of Performance by the Government of Pakistan after his death.
