NEW DELHI: Struggling Royal Challengers Bengaluru may still be far from securing a playoff spot, but captain Faf du Plessis expressed relief after his team ended their six-match losing streak in the Indian Premier League on Thursday.

Their 35-run triumph over Sunrisers Hyderabad marked only their second victory in nine matches, leaving the side anchored to the bottom of the 10-team league.

Despite challenges, the team hold onto hope for a top-four finish, which would offer it a shot at the inaugural IPL title.

Du Plessis emphasized the significance of their second win, stating it would inject much-needed confidence into the team.

He acknowledged the mental toll of a string of losses, expressing relief that the victory would ease the pressure.

With only Virat Kohli consistently performing with the bat and an inconsistent bowling unit, Bengaluru needed a stellar performance to overcome third-placed Hyderabad. They delivered, with Rajat Patidar scoring his second consecutive fifty and Cameron Green making valuable contributions with both bat and ball.

Du Plessis stressed the importance of performance in building confidence within the team, highlighting the contributions of multiple players to their recent success.

He emphasized the need for collective batting contributions, recognizing that in high-scoring matches, success hinges on team effort rather than individual brilliance.
