SHAHRISBAZ, Uzbekistan: Amidst the splendor of Shahrisabz, Uzbekistan, Ambassador Khusrav Noziri, General Secretary of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO), championed cultural harmony and regional solidarity during the city’s proclamation as the ECO Tourism Capital for 2024.

In a press conference marking the commencement of the festivities, Ambassador Noziri urged ECO member nations to unite in celebrating the rich cultural tapestry of the region. He lauded Uzbekistan’s historic significance and praised Shahrisabz for its architectural marvels and natural beauty, positioning it as a jewel in Central Asia’s crown.

Recognizing the transformative power of tourism, Ambassador Noziri emphasized Shahrisabz’s potential to inspire sustainable development and foster international collaboration. He envisioned the city as a beacon of unity, inviting visitors from across the ECO to immerse themselves in its enchanting ambiance.

The proclamation ceremony, spanning two days, promises a vibrant array of cultural activities, including folk dances, culinary competitions, and fashion showcases. Additionally, discussions on tourism development and the establishment of an Advisory Committee will pave the way for a future of shared prosperity and mutual understanding.

Uzbekistan’s Tourism Committee, led by Chairman Umid Shadiev, and Shahrisabz City’s Khokim, Mr. Sherzod Buriev, reaffirmed their commitment to promoting tourism and ensuring a memorable experience for all visitors. Their dedication underscores Shahrisabz’s emergence as a global tourism destination, poised to captivate hearts and minds worldwide.
