Egypt, Oman Advocate for Diplomatic Efforts to Resolve Regional Crises

CAIRO: Egypt and Oman have emphasized the importance of intensifying diplomatic efforts to address regional crises for the benefit of Arab countries and their people.

The call for increased cooperation came during a meeting between Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and Sultan Haitham bin Tariq Al-Said of Oman in Cairo.

In recognition of Sultan Haitham’s visit to Egypt, both leaders exchanged the highest decorations of their respective countries, symbolizing the significance of the occasion.

Egyptian Trade and Industry Minister Ahmed Samir highlighted the remarkable growth in trade between Egypt and Oman, with the volume of exchange reaching $1.08 billion last year, a 66 percent increase from $651 million in 2021.

Samir also mentioned Egyptian investments in Oman, amounting to $860 million, which have been directed toward 142 public projects in the tourism, investment, and infrastructure sectors.

These remarks were made during the Egyptian-Omani Business Forum, where officials and representatives from both countries gathered to discuss economic collaboration. Sultan Haitham’s visit to Egypt marks his first since assuming power in January 2020.

Egypt and Oman resolve to bilateral promote trade

Ahmed Fahmy, the spokesperson for the Egyptian presidency, noted that both leaders expressed satisfaction with the continuous growth in trade between their nations. They affirmed their commitment to further promote trade and cooperation among relevant authorities.

The discussions also revolved around exchanging expertise and experiences to enhance institutional development and modernize administrative entities in both countries.

President El-Sisi conveyed his best wishes for the successful completion of Oman Vision 2040, the comprehensive development plan of the Sultanate. He praised the longstanding friendly relations between Egypt and Oman, forged through decades of solidarity and unity in the face of challenges.

El-Sisi reaffirmed Egypt’s dedication to strengthening these exceptional relations, with a focus on serving the interests of both nations and the broader Arab community.

The Omani sultan commended the special relations between Egypt and Oman, highlighting the deep bonds of friendship and brotherhood that existed between the two peoples throughout history.

He reiterated Oman’s commitment to enhancing existing cooperation frameworks and exploring new avenues of bilateral collaboration in various fields.
