Envoy Highlights Incumbent Govt’s Commitment to SDGs-Oriented Progressive Agenda

ABU DHABI: Ambassador Faisal Niaz Tirmizi, Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates, expressed the incumbent government’s dedication to pursuing a progressive agenda aimed at achieving economic stability and Sustainable Development Goals.

Addressing the Pakistan Day Reception organized by the embassy in Abu Dhabi to commemorate Pakistan’s National Day, the ambassador highlighted various opportunities in Pakistan crucial for promoting socio-economic development, including the country’s youthful population, increasing women’s participation in public life, agricultural potential, rich socio-cultural heritage, tourism prospects, and the rapidly growing IT sector.

The event was attended by members of the diplomatic corps, senior officials of the UAE government, Emirati nationals, and members of the Pakistani community. Sheikh Nahayan bin Mabarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, graced the occasion as the chief guest.

Traditional Pakistani artists performed the national anthems of both Pakistan and the UAE using flute and tabla instruments.

Ambassador Tirmizi stressed the importance of dialogue and called for an immediate cessation of hostilities in Gaza, reiterating Pakistan’s stance on the resolution of the Palestinian issue and the Jammu and Kashmir dispute in accordance with UN Security Council resolutions.

He commended the UAE’s remarkable economic growth over the past five decades and paid tribute to the visionary leadership of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, continued by current President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

He highlighted the strong political and economic partnership between Pakistan and the UAE, evidenced by regular high-level engagements, established institutions, and the sizable Pakistani diaspora of 1.8 million in the UAE.

The ambassador also praised the contributions of Pakistani workers to the UAE’s economy, including forklift operators, drivers, electricians, security guards, and food delivery riders.

Children from the Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Arab Pakistan School, adorned in traditional attire representing all provinces of Pakistan, showcased cultural performances, highlighting the country’s rich diversity.

During the event, distinguished Pakistani entrepreneur Mudassir Sheikha was honored with the Tamgha-i-Imtiaz for his exceptional services to Pakistan.
