ISLAMABAD: Former cricketers, with a mix of disappointment and indignation, are expressing their vehement opposition to the decision to relegate Imad Wasim to the bench for the inaugural T20 clash against New Zealand. The ramifications of this contentious move have rippled through the cricketing community, particularly directed towards the leadership of captain Babar Azam.

Amidst the anticipation surrounding the first T20 International showdown against New Zealand, the selection strategy that sidelined the seasoned all-rounder, Imad Wasim, has ignited a fiery debate within cricketing circles.

The match, slated to unfold in Rawalpindi, was abruptly truncated by inclement weather, affording a mere two deliveries before rain intervened. Yet, the contentious choice to favor Shadab Khan over Imad Wasim in the starting lineup has provoked the ire of former cricketers, who have minced no words in castigating both the team management and the skipper.

In a cacophony of criticism, former cricketer Iqbal Qasim has been particularly vocal, contending that Imad Wasim was unjustly overlooked in favor of Shadab Khan. Qasim opines that given the clamor surrounding the reinstatement of Mohammad Amir and Imad Wasim into the squad, they merit every opportunity to reclaim their former prowess on the field.
