Ex-PCB Chairman Passes Away

LAHORE: Former Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chief Shahryar Khan has passed away in Lahore after prolong illness. Shahyar Khan was 89 years old and is survived by his widow and 4 children, local media reported.

Having played key roles in the cricketing landscape of the South Asian country, Khan’s demise marks the end of a chapter in cricket administration. His contributions to the cricket, both on and off the field, have left a permanent mark on Pakistan’s cricketing legacy.

Apart from the cricket arenas, the former chief of PCB also left a commendable legacy as a diplomat after serving as Pakistan’s Secretary of Foreign Affairs from 1990 to 1994. He was a cousin of ex-Indian skipper Nawab Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi.

As news of his passing reverberated through the cricketing fraternity, paid tributes poured in from all quarters, with current Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi expressing profound regret over his death.

Naqvi has lauded Shahryar Khan’s dedicated service and contribution to Pakistan cricket and offered heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family. As per media reports, Shahryar M Khan’s funeral will be offered in Karachi.
