Fact Check: Anwar Maqsood Denies Abduction and Torture Reports

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s acclaimed scriptwriter, host, satirist, and humorist, Anwar Maqsood, has refuted claims circulating on social media alleging that he was abducted, tortured, and threatened by unknown persons.

Several social media posts had surfaced in recent days, asserting that Maqsood had been subjected to abduction and mistreatment, sparking concerns among his fans and followers.

However, Maqsood has categorically dismissed these reports as false and baseless. Addressing the allegations, he stated, “The news circulating on social media about me is baseless.” Maqsood asserted that he neither maintains any social media accounts nor follows social media platforms.

He further clarified that the information reached him through telephone calls, indicating that he was made aware of the rumors by concerned persons.

In his statement, Maqsood condemned the dissemination of such unverified news and urged his fans to disregard the unfounded claims.
