Fact Check: Election Commission of Pakistan Rejects Misleading Media Reports

ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has rejected news reports circulating on some private media channels about Election Management System (EMS) as misleading and inaccurate.

The Commission’s spokesperson said that some private media channels have aired misleading reports and played tickers that are completely baseless and contrary to facts about the benefits and eligibility of the EMS.

The statement added the intention behind these news items seems to be the creation of misconceptions about the system and misleading the general public ahead of general elections in the South Asian country.

It further added that in reality, the Election Management System (EMS) has undergone multiple tests, and there is no doubt regarding its eligibility.

The general elections will be held on February 8 in the South Asian country.   More than 128 million voters including women and youth voters will exercise their right to vote for 266 general seats of the National Assembly of Pakistan.

Political parties and independent candidates are actively taking part in the election campaign to attract voters especially youth. The political parties and candidates are utilizing latest and traditional ways to pursued the voters.
