According to constitutional provisions, these candidates must finalize their political allegiance before the stroke of midnight, with the option to align with any parliamentary party within three days following the notification by the Election Commission of Pakistan. Failure to adhere to this deadline will categorize them as independents permanently.
The Election Commission Facilitation Center is poised to aid candidates in this crucial decision-making process, operating until the midnight deadline.
Independent candidates are required to submit an affidavit along with a letter from their respective party leader to affirm their commitment. Concurrently, political organizations can present candidate lists alongside corresponding affidavits to the Election Commission.
A noteworthy occurrence has seen a considerable cohort of independent candidates aligning themselves with established political entities. To elaborate, 82 triumphant independent candidates from National Assembly constituencies have opted to join forces with the Sunni Ittehad Council, while nine successful independents from Sindh Assembly seats have committed their support to the same council.
