LOS ANGELES: Hannah Green of Australia successfully defended her LPGA Los Angeles Championship title with a commanding three-stroke victory at the Wilshire Country Club on Sunday, securing her second triumph of the season. Green’s impressive performance included a stellar 5-under-par round of 66, concluding the tournament at 12-under overall. This win follows her recent victory at the HSBC Women’s World Championship in Singapore, showcasing her consistent excellence on the tour.

Starting the day tied for the lead with compatriot Grace Kim, whose final round faltered with a six-over 77, Green faced a diminished challenge after Kim failed to maintain her earlier momentum. Despite pressure from Sweden’s Maja Stark, who finished at nine-under for the week, Green remained undeterred, ultimately securing her victory.

Notably, the absence of world number one Nelly Korda, who is set to return for the Cognizant Founders Cup seeking her sixth consecutive win, further highlighted Green’s dominance in this event. Despite a slow start, Green’s strategic play, highlighted by key birdies and an eagle on the back nine, propelled her to victory once again.

Green’s affinity for the Wilshire Country Club is evident, given her remarkable track record, including last year’s win, a second-place finish in 2022, and a tie for third in 2021. Expressing her fondness for the venue, Green remarked on the warm reception from the crowd and the club’s atmosphere, lamenting the temporary hiatus due to renovations while eagerly anticipating her return in 2026.
