BEIRUT: Hezbollah Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah announced on Sunday that the group is ready for “unrestricted warfare” with Israel amidst escalated tensions and cross-border exchanges of fire. Nasrallah’s statement comes a week after a senior Hezbollah commander, Wissam al-Tawil, was killed in an Israeli airstrike in Lebanon.

In a speech addressing the recent developments, Nasrallah emphasized that it is Israel and its army that fear war, asserting that Hezbollah has been ready for war in the past 99 days. He stated, “We will accept the war and will fight without a ceiling or controls if the war is imposed on us.”

Hezbollah Accuses Israeli Army of Hiding Casualties

Nasrallah accused the Israeli army of hiding its casualties and warned of potential consequences for Israel after the war stops. He suggested that the enemy would face a catastrophe due to the resistance in Gaza and other fronts.

Tensions along Lebanon’s border with Israel have been escalating since the Israeli army initiated a military offensive in the Gaza Strip following an attack by Hamas on October 7. The recent exchange of cross-border fire between Hezbollah and Israeli forces has led to the deadliest clashes since the full-scale war between the two sides in 2006.
