KARACHI: Multan Sultans’ all-rounder Iftikhar Ahmed has been fined five per cent of his match fee by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Wednesday for breaching the code of conduct during a Pakistan Super League (PSL) season 9 match.

Iftikhar Ahmed was penalized for a Level 1 breach of the PSL’s code of conduct during Multan Sultans’ fixture against Quetta Gladiators at the National Bank Stadium in Karachi.

The breach occurred in the third over of Quetta Gladiators’ batting innings when Iftikhar Ahmed directed inappropriate language towards batter Jason Roy, who was dismissed.

The Pakistan Cricket Board stated that the all-rounder violated Article 2.5 of the HBL PSL Code of Conduct, which pertains to “using language, actions or gestures which disparage or could provoke an aggressive reaction from a batter upon his/her dismissal during a match.”

Iftikhar Ahmed Pleads Guilty to Charge

Since Iftikhar Ahmed pleaded guilty to the charge and accepted the sanctions proposed by match referee Ali Naqvi, there was no formal hearing required. The charge was imposed by on-field umpires Rashid Riaz and Richard Illingworth.

Despite the incident, Multan Sultans secured victory against Quetta Gladiators, reclaiming the top spot in the PSL 9 standings with 14 points. They have also booked their Quetta Qualifiers clash with Peshawar Zalmi, who moved to second place with one point less.
