NEW DELHI: In a fiery speech delivered at a public rally in Cooch Behar, West Bengal, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee launched a scathing attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party, accusing Indian intelligence agencies of aligning with the ruling party BJP ahead of the Lok Sabha elections.

Addressing a fervent crowd, the Trinamool Congress supremo alleged that central probe agencies, including the National Investigation Agency, Income Tax department, Border Security Force, and Central Industrial Security Force, were functioning at the behest of the BJP.

She said that these agencies were working to tilt the electoral landscape in favor of the saffron camp.

Banerjee declared that she would humbly plead with the Election Commission to ensure a level playing field as central agencies were aligning with the saffron camp. She vowed that her party would not succumb to the “threat of central agencies.”

In a bold speech, Banerjee encouraged locals to report instances of BSF torture ahead of the elections, scheduled for April 19, urging them to file police complaints.

This comes amidst escalating tensions between the BJP and TMC in the run-up to the polls.

West Bengal CM’s Accusations Spark Intense Political Debate

The allegations made by Mamata Banerjee have sparked intense political debate, with the BJP dismissing them as politically motivated and baseless. However, Banerjee’s claims have reignited concerns about the impartiality of the intelligence agencies of India and their role in electoral processes.

As the electoral battle intensifies in West Bengal, Banerjee’s allegations have added a new dimension to the already charged political atmosphere, setting the stage for a contentious showdown between the BJP and the TMC in the upcoming polls.
