It said that prison sentences of the detainees have also been suspended cherishing Islamic benignity and due to the humanitarian goals.
Ambassador of Iran to Pakistan Reza Amiri Moghadam, expressing his delight on the development through a post on X stated: I wish there were no crime on earth so that all the jail doors could be left wide open.
“So delighted to see 28 prisoners from the brotherly country of Pakistani could return back home. Wishing to see Iranian prisoners in Pakistan could hug their loved ones soon,” he said.

It is pertinent to mention that Pakistan’s Minister for Law and Justice Azam Nazeer Tarar last month discussed the possibility of releasing 60 Iranian prisoners in Pakistani jails with a visiting delegation from Iran in response to its offer of freeing 160 Pakistani nationals from Iranian jails.
The discussion between the two countries over the matter highlights a broader regional concern where individuals traveling across borders for work are often detained and imprisoned for minor offenses.
Pakistan and Iran have mutually agreed to release prisoners from each other’s jails on humanitarian grounds.
