ANKARA: Türkiye’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Tuesday said that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu should be blamed for Iran’s direct attack on Israel.

The Turkish leader, who denounces Israel and its leadership regularly, in televised remarks said the main one responsible for the tension in the region is Netanyahu and his bloody administration.

He went on to say those who have been silent about Israel’s aggressive attitude for months immediately denounced the Iranian response. He added that it’s Netanyahu himself who should be condemned.

He said Israel’s April 1 attack on the Iranian embassy complex in Damascus was an open violation of international law.

Türkiye has already called to end the escalation in the Middle East after Iran’s attack on Israel, saying there was a risk of a regional war.

Iran launched more than 300 drones and missiles against Israel on Saturday night while responding to Israel’s bombing of its diplomatic complex in Damascus. Almost all the missiles and drones were intercepted by Israel and its allies.
