RAMALLAH: Israeli forces launched their largest raid into the Palestinian administrative capital of Ramallah in the occupied West Bank in years, resulting in the death of a 16-year-old Palestinian in a refugee camp, Palestinian sources said on Monday.

Eyewitnesses reported a large presence of Israeli military vehicles entering Ramallah, the headquarters of the Palestinian Authority led by President Mahmoud Abbas. The raid targeted the Am’ari refugee camp, where Israeli forces shot and killed Mustafa Abu Shalbak during clashes.

Reports from the Palestinian health ministry indicated that Abu Shalbak sustained fatal injuries to his neck and chest as Israeli forces raided the camp. Confrontations ensued as Palestinian youths clashed with the Israeli troops, resulting in the tragic loss of life.

The Israeli military has not provided immediate comment on the incident.

Israeli Forces and Settlers’ Violence in West Bank

The raid in Ramallah is part of a broader surge in violence across the West Bank, coinciding with the ongoing conflict in Gaza. Since the outbreak of hostilities, clashes between Palestinians and Israeli forces have claimed the lives of at least 400 Palestinians, while Israel has conducted several raids into Palestinian territories.

Witnesses also reported Israeli forces tearing up a main road in the West Bank city of Tulkarm during a separate raid. Additionally, Israeli troops stormed the city of Nablus, where they demolished the home of a slain Palestinian, Moaz al-Masri. Al-Masri was killed by Israeli forces in Nablus last May.

During the raids, Israeli forces detained at least 55 Palestinians across the West Bank overnight, according to The Palestinian Prisoners Club.
