WEST BANK: Israeli forces conducted a raid in West Bank on Sunday resulting in the deaths of two Palestinian civilians, further exacerbating tensions in the region. Additionally, at least five others were wounded during the Israeli military operation, as reported by the Palestinian Red Crescent.

According to the Palestinian health ministry, the two Palestinian men, aged 19 and 36, succumbed to gunshot wounds sustained during the Israeli raid in the Tulkarm refugee camp, home to over 27,000 Palestinian refugees as per UN estimates.

The elder of the two, identified as a local commander by the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades, the armed wing of Palestinian president Mahmud Abbas’s Fatah party.

Israeli Forces’ Brutalities in West Bank

The raid comes amid escalating unrest in the West Bank following Palestinian resistance group Hamas’s October 7 attack on southern Israel. International concern has been mounting, with EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell describing the situation as nearing a “greater explosion.”

Since October 7, Israeli forces have intensified their near-daily raids across the West Bank. According to the Palestinian health ministry, at least 398 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli forces or settlers in the West Bank since October 7.

Moreover, the Israeli military reported that since the start of the Gaza war, over 3,100 Palestinians have been arrested in the West Bank.

The West Bank, along with east Jerusalem and the Gaza Strip, was captured by Israel during the Six-Day War in 1967. Settlements established by Israel in these territories are considered illegal under international law, with millions of Palestinians residing alongside Israeli settlers in the region.
