VISAKHAPATNAM: India’s opener, Yashasvi Jaiswal, showcased sheer smartness as he transformed his overnight score of 179 into a historic double century during the second day of the current test match against England. This achievement unfolded in Visakhapatnam, where the left-hander displayed his prowess with the bat.

In a breathtaking display of power hitting, Jaiswal dispatched debutant spinner Shoaib Bashir for a towering six and a boundary, crossing the coveted 200-run mark in the opening session. His jubilant reaction was evident as he removed his helmet, leaping with joy, and blew kisses to the ecstatic weekend crowd. The spectators, moved by his stellar performance, rose to their feet, offering a resounding standing ovation to acknowledge his marathon innings.

At the age of 22, Jaiswal has emerged as a pivotal figure in India’s batting lineup. Opting to bat first, the hosts placed their trust in the young star, and he certainly lived up to expectations. Friday witnessed Jaiswal surpassing his previous Test best of 171, a milestone achieved during his debut in the West Indies last year.

With this monumental double century, Jaiswal has further solidified his stature in the cricketing arena. Having played six matches and eleven innings, he boasts an impressive batting average exceeding 51.
