Kashmiri Leaders Hold Protest Demonstration on India’s Independence Day

ISLAMABAD: The All Parties Hurriyat Conference – Azad Jammu and Kashmir (APHC-AJK) chapter organized a protest demonstration in front of the Indian High Commission in Islamabad on the occasion of India’s Independence Day to observe the occasion as Black Day. The protesters, carrying black flags and raising their voices in unison, expressed their deep discontent with India’s illegal occupation of Jammu and Kashmir.

Chanting slogans such as “Go India Go back,” “We want freedom from Indian illegal occupation,” “Wake up UN, wake up,” and “Kashmir seeks attention,” the demonstrators voiced their firm stance against Indian oppression and for the rightful self-determination of the Kashmiri people.

Prominent figures from the APHC-AJK chapter participated in the protest, including Mehmood Ahmad Saghar, Imtiyaz Wani, Ghulam Muhammad Safi, Muhammad Farooq Rehmani, Syed Faiz Naqashbandi, Syed Yosuf Naseem, Shaikh Abdul Mateen, Syed Aijaz Rehmani, Hassan Bana, Shaikh Muhammad Yaqoob, Adv Pervaiz Ahmed Shah, Zahid Safi, Mushtaq Ahmed Butt, Altaf Ahmed Butt, Yousuf Daud Zai, Muhammad Sultan Butt, Nisar Mirza, Muhammad Hussain Khateeb, Adeel Mushtaq Wani, Shaikh Majid, Gulshan Ahmed, Syed Mushtaq Ahmed, Kahdim Hussain, Abdul Majeeb, Muhammad Ashraf Dar, Afsar Chaudhary, Zahid Ashraf, Director Liberation Cell, Khan Afsar Khan, Najeebuallah and many others.

Sacrifices of Kashmiri People for Freedom

Speaking to the gathered crowd, the speakers underlined the longstanding sacrifices made by Kashmiris in their pursuit of freedom, spanning 76 years. They emphasized that the right to self-determination is a fundamental entitlement of the Kashmiri populace, and their unwavering struggle will persist until complete independence from India is achieved.

The speakers asserted that the role of the United Nations and global powers remains pivotal in resolving the Kashmir dispute peacefully. They pointed out that if the UN and other influential bodies do not play their part, the Indian Army would be compelled to exit the region in disgrace.

The speakers urged the United Nations to play an active role in facilitating a peaceful resolution to the prolonged Kashmir conflict, which, they believe, would pave the way for lasting peace across the entire South Asian region.

The protest highlighted the deep-rooted sentiments of Kashmiris and their unwavering determination to attain the freedom they aspire to.
