‘Lok Mela’ Kicks Off to Features Pakistan’s Diverse Cultures

ISLAMABAD: The National Folk Festival, Lok Mela, in Islamabad, commenced with a magnificent display of Pakistan’s cultural diversity and unity at the National Institute of Folk and Traditional Heritage (Lok Virsa).

The festival, themed “Peace and Harmony through Cultural Diversity,” promises to be a vibrant celebration of the nation’s rich heritage, bringing people from various backgrounds together.

Scheduled to run until November 12, the festival will feature provincial pavilions, shopping stalls, food vendors, musical performances, and will showcase the diverse cultures and traditions of all four provinces, Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir.

Jamal Shah, the Minister for National Heritage and culture, expressed his enthusiasm for the event and highlighted its role in promoting national cohesion and cultural diversity.

He also announced that all festival activities would be conducted in support of the Palestinian people, with a dedicated stall for collecting funds for Palestine.

Festival attendees can look forward to a wide array of cultural activities, including traditional dances, folk music performances, arts and crafts demonstrations, as well as a delightful selection of dishes representing various regions of Pakistan. 

Lok Mela will be open from 10:00 am to 10:00 pm until November 12, with an affordable entry ticket priced at just Rs 150.
