Mohsin Naqvi Directs Police to Wipe Out Crimes from Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has issued directives to police to take solid steps to eradicate crimes from Islamabad. He issued these directives during a high-level meeting in Islamabad.

During the meeting, Naqvi tasked the police officials with conducting a rigorous crackdown on gangs involved in drug trafficking, utilizing modern technology to apprehend drug dealers. Naqvi also ordered to increase surveillance outside educational institutions to prevent the sale of drugs like ice and to apprehend sellers. The new IG, Ali Nasir Rizvi briefed the Minister on the law and order situation in the city.

Naqvi directed the establishment of a special protection force for the security of foreign nationals in Islamabad and emphasized the security of important offices and areas such as the red zone and diplomatic enclave.

Additionally, he called for action against beggar mafias and professional beggars in the city. Naqvi stressed the importance of 100% registration of First Information Reports (FIRs) on citizen complaints and warned of consequences for police stations and SHOs that delayed or denied FIR registration.

He instructed the IG to promptly handle promotion cases within the capital police, highlighting the significance of timely promotions for morale.  Naqvi expressed determination to improve police stations’ conditions in Islamabad, promising visible results within a few months.
