Narowal Sports City to Be Opened Before South Asian Games 2025

NAROWAL: Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Ahsan Iqbal on Monday presided over a meeting regarding the administrative matters of Narowal Sports City.

The meeting was attended by Prof. Dr. Muhammad Younis, Vice Chancellor University of Narowal, Nadeem Irshad Kayani, Federal Secretary for Inter-Provincial Coordination, Zahoor Ahmed, DG Pakistan Sports Board and Additional Secretary Inter Provincial Coordination, Syed Hasan Raza, Deputy Commissioner Narowal, Farooq Azam, Focal Person Narowal Sports City, and representatives of the Higher Education Commission (HEC) and Pakistan Sports Board (PSB).

After the handover of Narowal Sports City from the PSB to the University of Narowal, a three-member committee comprising representatives of VC University of Narowal, PSB and HEC was formed to run the administrative and financial affairs of the project. The committee would ensure speedy completion of the ongoing development projects in the Sports City and ensure the payment of these projects so that the Narowal Sports City can be inaugurated for all sports as soon as possible, the Ministry of Planning, Development and Special Initiatives said in a statement.

In the meeting, Ahsan Iqbal issued instructions to the executing agencies to complete the restoration work of squash and badminton halls, cricket, football, basketball, and hockey grounds and hostels of Sports City in Narowal Sports City as soon as possible.

Moreover, instructions were given to build a Kabaddi ground in Sports City and to complete the whole work including providing electricity as soon as possible.

Narowal Sports City to Be Built on International Standards

Ahsan Iqbal said that the government is committed to preparing Narowal Sports City according to international standards before the South Asian Games 2025.

He said that the Cricket ground will be rebuilt in order to hold first-class cricket matches on the ground next season.

The minister said that he will visit Narowal Sports City every week and will personally monitor the performance of the executing agencies.
