ISLAMABAD: As winter sets in, bringing along the seasonal challenges of sinusitis, flu, and congested sinuses, people are increasingly turning to natural remedies to alleviate symptoms and promote well-being. Health experts suggest nine herbal drinks that may provide relief from nasal congestion, soothe sore throats, and ease sinus discomfort.

Herbal Drinks That Can Relieve Sinus Irritation and Sore Throats

Renowned for its anti-inflammatory and expectorant properties, ginger can help relieve sinus irritation, soothe sore throats, and loosen mucus. Boil a one-inch piece of fresh ginger in two cups of water, add honey and lemon juice, and consume twice or thrice a day.

With anti-inflammatory and antibacterial qualities, cinnamon tea can be prepared by pouring your preferred tea over a cinnamon stick. Strain and enjoy warm twice a day to alleviate symptoms.

Known for its antibacterial and anti-inflammatory qualities, turmeric milk can help prevent infections and relieve chest congestion. Stir turmeric, black pepper, and honey into warm milk and consume once or twice a day.

Fenugreek seeds aid in reducing nasal tissue irritation and mucus production. Boil two teaspoons of fenugreek seeds in two cups of water, strain, and drink twice a day to clear the throat and nose.

Mint tea with menthol can relieve sinus strain and open nasal passages. Steep dried peppermint leaves in boiling water for 10 minutes, add honey and lemon juice, and drink three times a day.

A classic combination, honey and lemon strengthen immunity, aid detoxification, and relieve sore throats. Mix lemon juice and honey with warm water and drink three times a day for immunity and sinus clearance.

Cardamom, with its antibacterial qualities, may ease throat irritation and congestion. Crush a few cardamom pods, boil in water, strain, and drink warm twice a day for relief.

Combining peppermint chamomile, mullein, sage, ginger, eucalyptus, wild thyme, and blackberry, this herbal tea helps release mucus from the nose and throat. Steep dried herbs or a tea bag in boiling water with honey and lemon juice, and drink three times a day.
