JEDDAH: The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) on Thursday strongly denounced the heinous attack by extremist Israeli settler groups on the headquarters of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) in occupied Al-Quds.
The OIC considered this to be an extension of organized terrorism and ongoing Israeli crimes committed by the Israeli occupation forces and extremist settlers in the occupied Palestinian territory, read the statement.
The OIC underscored the gravity of this attack within the broader framework of Israeli attempts to undermine UNRWA’s role, distort its image, and choke off its funding.
The OIC statement stated that the Israeli occupation destroyed over 160 UNRWA facilities and killed 188 UNRWA staff members since the start of the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip. These actions flagrantly violate international humanitarian law and relevant UN resolutions.
Placing full responsibility on Israel, the occupying power, the OIC demanded an end to these egregious crimes against the Palestinian people, UN agencies, and humanitarian workers.
It urged the international community, particularly the UN Security Council, to fulfill its obligations in halting these violations and providing essential international protection for Palestinians.
