ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Association Dubai (PAD) will build a model village in Lasbela, Baluchistan, for the flood-hit people, in collaboration with Al Khidmat Foundation.

The model village will consist of sixty-four houses, a mosque, a medical dispensary, a park, and a playground. It will consist of sixteen clusters, with each cluster having 4 houses, benefiting about six hundred people from the district, which was badly affected by the recent flash floods.

The village will be powered by solar energy to provide the residents with clean energy, sewage, and sanitation facilities.

Model village construction to begin on 1 January

The construction of the model village will start on 1 January 2023 and is expected to complete in three months. President of Pakistan Association Dubai Dr. Faisel Ikram urged the community to come forward and provide assistance to make the project a success.

He said that Pakistan Association Dubai envisioned this model village when it started the campaign. A lot of paperwork and logistics are done to ensure the project materializes. “We are thankful to Community Development Authority (CDA), Department of Islamic Affairs, Dar Al Ber Society and Charitable Activities for their continuous support in the relief work,” Dr. Faisel said.

Pakistan recently faced the most devastating floods in history, which damaged thousands of homes, water systems, and public health facilities. It affected nearly 33 million people, including 16 million children. The floods also destroyed several areas’ schools, roads, bridges, and energy supply systems.

Pakistan Association Dubai has already provided 435 tonnes of relief and fifteen containers of flood relief assistance. It said that the dispensary, mosque, and power-system-operated water project have already been sponsored.

The raising of each house in the model village will cost 366000 rupees. – APP
