Pakistan Celebrates Eid-ul-Fitar Today

ISLAMABAD: Eid-ul-Fitr is being celebrated across Pakistan today (Wednesday) with religious enthusiasm and fervour.

Eid congregations were held across the country at mosques, Eidgahs, Imambargahs, parks, open places, in all cities, towns and villages.

The main such gathering was held in the federal capital Islamabad at the Faisal Mosque where high officials and envoys of Muslim countries offered Eid prayers.

The ulema and religious leaders in their sermons highlighted the significance and philosophy of Eid-ul-Fitr. Prayers were offered for the prosperity and progress of Pakistan and welfare of Muslim Ummah.

Special prayers were also offered for the Palestinians of Gaza who have been subject to relentless Israeli bombardment since October 7.

Eid marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan. The festival spreads the feelings of affection, love and compassion. Eid also gives a message of mutual harmony and solidarity.

Eid-ul-Fitr promotes spreading the message of peace, harmony and brotherhood.

The official moon-sighting committee yesterday announced the sighting of Shawwal moon and said that Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated in Pakistan on Wednesday (April 10).

Meanwhile, Eid-ul-Fitr is also being celebrated in Saudi Arabia, Australia, UK, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

However, Muslims in India and Bangladesh will celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr on Thursday (April 11) as the Shawwal moon was not sighted there.
