ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Qazi Faez Isa has summoned a full court meeting of the apex court in response to a letter penned by six Islamabad High Court judges alleging interference in the judiciary. The meeting is scheduled to commence shortly.

This development follows calls from bar associations and legal experts for an investigation into the contents of the letter. According to media reports, the meeting will focus on deliberating the concerns raised by the IHC judges. Attorney General for Pakistan (AGP) Mansoor Usman Awan reportedly met with the CJP to discuss the matter before the meeting.

Speaking to journalists after the meeting, AGP stated that the issue is grave and warrants a thorough investigation. Bar associations from Sindh, Lahore, Islamabad, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, along with senior lawyers, have condemned the alleged interference, urging the Chief Justice to address the issue promptly.

The letter penned by the IHC judges on Tuesday called for a judicial convention to address concerns regarding the purported interference in judicial affairs. The judges seeking guidance from the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) expressed their duty to report any intimidation or interference that hinders the discharge of their official duties.

The IHC judges who authored the letter include Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kiyani, Justice Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri, Justice Babar Sattar, Justice Sardar Ejaz Ishaq Khan, Justice Arbab Muhammad Tahir, and Justice Saman Fafat Imtiaz.
