Pakistan Desires to Expand Economic, Trade Cooperation with Friendly Countries: President

ISLAMABAD: President Dr Arif Alvi on Wednesday said that Pakistan desired to expand its trade and economic ties with the friendly nations.

President Alvi expressed these views during separate meetings with the Ambassador-designate of Pakistan to Portugal Dr Muhammad Khalid Ejaz and Ambassador-designate to Myanmar Imran Haider, who called on him at the President House.

Talking to the ambassador-designate to Portugal, he urged him to work for further strengthening of bilateral trade relations with his host country, adding that Pakistan was ensuring a conducive environment for trade and economic activities.

Foreign investors should utilize such a business-friendly environment in Pakistan, President Secretariat Press Wing, in a press note, quoted the president as saying.

President Alvi also highlighted the need to strengthen political, cultural and people-to-people contacts between Pakistan and Portugal, besides enhancing exchanges at the political level.

He said that Portuguese IT companies could benefit from the skilled human resources of Pakistan.

President for Enhanced Cooperation with Myanmar

President Alvi, during his meeting with the ambassador-designate to Myanmar, emphasized further cementing of bilateral ties between the two countries.

He said that both countries were required to enhance their cooperation in the business sector to promote trade.

He added that ancient Buddhism heritage in Pakistan could further bring the two nations closer in the tourism and cultural sectors.

On the occasion, he also separately expressed his good wishes for the success of both diplomats.
