Pakistan, Iran Vow to Address Mutual Issues, Bring Peace in Region

ISLAMABAD: Pakistani and Iranian offices have expressed vowed to take steps to address mutual challenges and bring region pace. The two sides agreed during a meeting between Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Iranian Ambassador to Pakistan, Dr. Reza Amiri Moghaddam local media reported on Saturday.

During the talks, the two sides discussed the upcoming trip of the Iranian President to Islamabad and the agreements to be inked during the high-level visit. During the meeting, Mohsin Naqvi emphasized the crucial nature of the Iranian President’s trip in the context of the regional situation, adding that it would be a milestone in strengthening bilateral ties between the two nations.

The Minister stressed that mutual cooperation was essential to address the issue of terrorism and other issues. Interior Minister also highlighted the longstanding ties between Islamabad and Tehran emphasized the importance of mutual cooperation for long-term regional stability and peace.

The parties also exchanged views on various matters, including bilateral ties, security cooperation, facilitating commercial activities at the common borders, improving commercial transport at the borders, enhancing interaction between customs officials, addressing consular and legal matters, and expediting the execution of agreements between Pakistan and Iran.

On the occasion, Iranian envoy also congratulated Mohsin Naqvi for taking over the office and also appreciated his performance as interim chief minister Punjab.
