ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Caretaker Information Minister Murtaza Solangi on Wednesday said that the inaugural session of the new National Assembly would be convened in compliance with the law.

Addressing media inquiries outside the Election Commission of Pakistan, Solangi remarked, “I need to endorse the summary for the NA session, as I also serve as the Minister for Parliamentary Affairs.”

He highlighted that according to the law, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) must release official results within 14 days of the elections. As per constitutional provisions, he noted, the president could convene the National Assembly session within 21 days of the polling date.

“The deadline for summoning the NA session is February 29, and it can be called on any day before that,” Solangi clarified.

Regarding eligibility for key positions, Solangi mentioned that any National Assembly member could contest elections for the roles of prime minister, speaker, and deputy speaker.

Responding to queries about election grievances, Solangi emphasized the importance of seeking justice through legal channels. He encouraged those with complaints to approach legal forums for resolution.

Regarding Balochistan’s caretaker government, he noted their efforts to address issues in accordance with the law.
