Pakistan, Uzbekistan Should Extend Bilateral Trade: Ambassador

ISLAMABAD: Uzbekistan’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Oybek Arif Usmanov has held a meeting with the President of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Atif Ikram Sheikh.

During the meeting, Atif Ikram Sheikh said that Pakistan and Uzbekistan are two brotherly countries and there is need to extend trade ties between the two sides. He also pointed out the challenges faced by Pakistanis regarding business and tourist visas. He urged the Ambassador to address such issues to further improve the trade between the two nations.

President Sheikh identified various sectors with potential for mutual trade growth, including textile, pharmaceuticals, rice, machinery, agricultural machinery, and electro-technical industries.

On his part, Ambassador Oybek Arif Usmanov extended an invitation to the Federation of Chambers and the business community to participate in the upcoming International Business Forum in Uzbekistan.

Ambassador Usmanov said that they will make efforts to facilitate Pakistanis, adding direct flights from Islamabad and Lahore to Uzbekistan will be started soon.
