Pakistan’s Deaf Cricket Team Secures Victory in World Cup

SHARJAH: The Deaf International Cricket Council (DICC) T20 World Cup 2024, held in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates (UAE) from March 6 to March 12, witnessed the triumph of the Pakistan Deaf Cricket Team. Led by Zaka Ahmed Qureshi, the team showcased exceptional skill and teamwork, emerging undefeated champions after a stellar performance in the final against Sri Lanka.

The final showdown at the Cricket Vision Centre in Sharjah saw Pakistan dominating both in batting and bowling. With a target of 151 runs set, Pakistan’s bowlers, spearheaded by Jabbar Ali and Manzoor Khan, restricted Sri Lanka to a mere 63 runs, dismissing their entire batting lineup in just 16.5 overs.

Basit Abbasi’s impressive batting further bolstered Pakistan’s victory, earning them the championship title. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi lauded the team’s outstanding performance, attributing their success to dedication, teamwork, and relentless effort.

Participating alongside five other nations, namely India, Australia, Sri Lanka, South Africa, and Bangladesh, the DICC T20 World Cup 2024 highlighted Pakistan’s prowess on the international cricket stage.

Prior to their triumph, the Pakistan Blind Cricket Team received accolades from former President Arif Alvi during a meeting at the Presidential Palace in Islamabad on February 27. Recognizing their contributions in bringing honor to Pakistan, President Alvi praised the team’s dedication and skill, emphasizing their inspirational impact on society.
